AHOY Members Enjoy The Governor Stone
After a luncheon meeting at the Original Crab Shack in Ft. Walton Beach on July 10th, Auxiliary of Helpers of Yachtsmen (AHOY) participated in an ceremony of awards to retiring vessel Captain, Past FWSPS Commander and Past District Commander Dick Gercak and a lovely, breezy sail on the vessel, The Governor Stone.
National Safe Boating Week
Mike Anderson, Mayor of City of Fort Walton Beach, presented a Safe Boating Week proclamation to R/C Wil Hugli on 8 May 2012 in advance of NSBW.
Among several events that took place, a Friday night “Life Boat Drill” on 18 May, at the Ft. Walton Yacht Club was a huge success, with 38 people donning their PFDs.
District 15 Conference
The Spring Conference took place 14 April 2012 and was hosted by the Pensacola Squadron.
March 2012 Dinner
Guest speaker Jim Roberson talked about underwater construction of offshore oil wells at this well-attended event.
PDF Demonstration
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission presented a Boating Safety and Education training program at the FWSPS Anchorage on Saturday, 24 March 2012.
Chili Cookoff Dinner
The November membership dinner at The Anchorage was a Chili Cookoff. Members brought their best pot of chili, and a panel of four judges held a blind taste test under the guidance of Col. Foe Maturo.
