Teens At The Helm

Galati Yacht Sales Destin is the first to open its doors to educating young adults in safe boating and basic seamanship. Teens At The Helm was created by Joe and Jennifer Galati to encourage the young boaters of our area to boat safe and boat smart.
Florida Fish & Wild Life Conservation Commission Law states: Anyone 21 years of age and under who operates a vessel powered by a 10 horsepower or more must pass an approved boaters safety course and have in his/her possession photographic identification and a boaters safety identification card issued by the Florida Fish & Wild Life Conservation Commission.
With the help of Wilbur Hugli the United States Power Squadrons certified instructor for the Public Boating Courses and chairman of the Boat Handling Committee responsible for the development of several advanced courses and seminars; 20 teenagers took and passed this course and obtained their boaters safety identification card.
The course covers the basics you need to know to safely and legally operate a boat, such as basic boating terminology, boat handling, water sports safety, PWCs, legally required equipment and other boating laws and regulations, right-of-way rules between boats, and marine radio operation.
Galati Yacht Sales is very proud of these young adults and are planning to continue to schedule classes so that any teenager who is interested will have an opportunity to attend and obtain safety certification. Teenagers are the future boaters of tomorrow and with Galati's help they will also learn to respect and appreciate the beautiful waterways of Destin and beyond.
Galati Yacht Sales continued dedication to promote safe boating and educate boaters is demonstrated through their customer Ladies at the Helm courses taught several times a year at various Galati locations. Safety and safe boat handling is a major priority for all of Galati Yacht Sales customers.
